News and Announcements

Winter Maintenance swimming practices start again on Monday January 18, 2021. Yeah! All parents/caregivers must read our “Return to Swimming” document before attending. The document is attached to this announcement, or you can see the paper version posted at the Aquatic Centre.

On Monday, Jamie and will be near the Library side front entrance, to welcome swimmers, collect volunteer cheques ($75, payable to the Revelstoke Aquaducks) and to have parents sign the BCSSA Waiver if this has not yet been done.

Please have your swimmer in their suit and ready to swim when they arrive at the Aquatic Centre and ensure that they have brought their membership card from a previous session. Cards will be prepared for new swimmers. Contact Graham (aquaduckstreasurer@gmail.com) if you cannot find your card from a previous session.

Anna Pfeiffer is our Head Coach, with senior swimmers Kayln, Maddy, Morgan & Tye assisting her. Our coaches will be showing the swimmers the routine for arrival: Rub hands with sanitizer, scan your card through the plexiglass screen at the counter, enter the pool through the double doors, remove your shoes, walk barefoot to the tables by the windows, place your items in an empty basket (provided by Aquatic Centre), gather by your coach. Easy. Like at school, social distancing and proper cough/sneezing etiquette are required. Sorry, as per our “Return to Swimming document”, parents are not allowed on deck to watch.

At the end of practice, swimmers will gather their gear from their basket, and go to the changerooms where they can rinse off, dry off, and change. The Aquatic Centre is encouraging our athletes to shower properly at home, and to limit their time in the changerooms. There are maximum numbers allowed in the changerooms so the coaches may stagger leaving times by a few minutes among the swimmers.

Its not like our usual routine, but we are grateful to be back swimming after a long absence and the new routines will not last forever. Thanks for your patience, and we welcome feedback, which can be emailed to aquaduckspresident@gmail.com. As we are inventing a new system from scratch, there will likely be some changes coming up, please review emails from the club regularly

Kind regards,

Aquaducks Board of Directors

Other bits of info:

-Contact Tanya Traverse if you would rather not do volunteer fundraising and would prefer to have your Volunteer Cheque cashed.
-did you sort on August 29th? Message Graham if so, he lost his notes from that day.

How will your Club return to the pool?

Now that BC is well into Phase 2 of our Covid-19 Emergency Plan, municipalities are considering the feasibility of reopening both indoor and outdoor pools. If BCSSA clubs wish to be considered to train within these facilities again, you must put together a “Return to Swim” plan focused on your own club activities and individual facilities.

BCSSA has put together a Guidelines Workbook for clubs as they are developing their own plans and procedures for keeping your swimmers, coaches, and families safe. The document is linked at the bottom of this post.

The purpose of this document is to assist BCSSA clubs to develop return to play plans which minimize the risk of Covid-19 (& other contagious viruses) transmission to their membership, as well as their employees. It can be used to consider the Covid-19 protocols that may be needed to be implemented in order to ensure our participants, coaches and volunteers can practice in a safe environment. This applies if you are creating your plan, or if you are just refining your current plan.

BCSSA advises all club members, directors, operators, lifeguards, coaches or other people associated with the association to follow the existing recommendations outlined on the World Health Organization Website (WHO). Refer to the Public Health Agency of Canada, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations and current guidelines and orders provided by the Provincial Health Officer.

We are also hosting a workshop on Thursday June 11, 6:30 PM, for club reps that want to review this document with us, or to clarify anything about this process. We will do our best to answer questions or to guide you in the right direction.

Register in advance for this workshop:

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

Hey Everyone:

Just a heads up for the coming year. The BCSSA has changed many rules for the coming year. Most changes affect Diving, Water Polo, and Artistic (formerly known as Synchro) but their are a few that affect speed swimming. If you are an official, coach or wanting to know more, look at the rule book that is now online on our new BCSSA website.
